From Elsewhere: Another group of ‘mosque-a-teers’ taking the mickey out of both planners and people’s goodwill

“A proposal to rebuild a mosque in South Woodford has been met by objections from residents worried about parking, congestion and the height of the building.”

As well they would worry. Big mosque equals big problems as we see across the country.

“About 250 representations have been made to the planning application which is listed on the Redbridge Council website.”

But will Redbridge Council take these into account, they didn’t when gifting a former working-mans club to an Islamic group.

“The application for South Woodford Mosque, in Mulberry Way, states trustees want to demolish the one storey building and replace it with a new one.

Imam at the mosque, Dr Mohammed Fahim, said it was impossible to please everyone, but they had tried to take as many people’s comments on board as possible.”

Do you smell bullshit?

“We have done our best,” he said. “We have distributed leaflets, we have invited everyone to two public meetings and met with the planning department.

“We did not reach this final design without consultation. It’s normal for people to object – that is life.”

Yup I definitely smell bullshit. Consultation with whom I wonder? Was this consultation publicised and were the mosque-a-teers being entirely honest when addressing these alleged public meetings?

“The proposed new building will be three-storeys with a mosque and community centre as well as four flats on the top floor.”

Those flats will be a nice little earner for the mosque, for sure.

“One of the common concerns raised in the objections was congestion and lack of parking each Friday when prayers are held. Dr Fahim said: “We have requested double yellow lines around the front of the building and the council agreed and they will be in place in the next few weeks. We have a car park and encourage people to use public transport.”

The mosque has a capacity of 250 people which will remain the same if the new building goes ahead.

“Friday is a busy time for everyone, not just us,” Dr Fahim said. “It’s a couple of hours and that’s it.”

What a load of old cack and diversion. Look also at how Dr Fahim arrogantly dismisses the genuine concerns that Fridays will become a parking nightmare if this mosque is built.

“Other complaints include the height of the building and the architecture being different to that around it. Dr Fahim added: “People must get used to living in London. As for the decorative wall, well this is better than the graffiti people used to write all over it.

“We thought we would put something attractive – there’s nothing sinister about it.”

If these Mosque-a-teers were serious about blending in and being good neighbours they would have gone for something smaller and more subtle. This is what other religious minority groups did in the UK in order to be ‘good neighbours’. Consider also the arrogant statement from Dr Fahiim that putting up with this monstrosity is just part and parcel of living in London. This mosque plan isn’t about being a good, integrated citizen it is all about Islamic ‘willy-waving’ and imposing Islam on South Woodford, just as has happened in the nearby areas of Waltham Forest, Newham, Tower Hamlets and other places in London. As for Dr Fahim’s comment that there is nothing ‘sinister’ about the project, I would say that there is lot of sinister stuff that goes on in Islam, you only have to look at the Religion of Peace website to see that. There is every reason to suspect something sinister when Islam is involved.

Maybe Dr Fahim should think about why Islam is so disliked and do something about making Islam less disliked. Taking the piss out of the planning system and the people is no way to do that.
